Garmin Border 500 Upload Problem
My ride on Sun wouldn't announced to upload either on Garmin Connect or Strava. Next few rides were uploadable merely was unable to upload today's ride. Has anybody else had this happen were your ride didn't appear? Have had my Garmin for a year and a half now and no problems before this. Latest software was installed correct after release.

I had a like problem last week. I installed the software update, so used the 500 for a trainer workout. I idea I had lost the conditioning (and was mightily peeved), simply what apparently happened was that the software update reset the appointment to August '99. The workout was at that place, but at the beginning of my uploads on Garmin Connect. All I had to do was accept the 500 exterior and let it find the satellites, and it reset to the correct date and time.
If that workout is at the outset of your updates due to a engagement change, yous tin can open the workout and edit the date.

I don't know if this will help, but my Edge 500 downloads more consistently and much faster when I don't proceed a bunch of onetime work outs stored on it.

There are times when Garmin devices don't correctly truncate the .TCX files, which tin lead to two files getting merged together. When that happens, the "new ride" won't actually upload to any of these sites because they really run into the ride as old since it wasn't correctly divide apart from your last ride.
Look at the history folder of your Garmin device and run across if your terminal ride is actually "bigger" than it is. It'south possible your new ride got attached to the end of your old one. If that'south the case, there are some free tools bachelor online that will allow you to split them apart. You can too send Strava customer support the file and they'll actually split it for yous.

+1 on this, although it may accept nothing to exercise with your outcome. I don't care about keeping the old files and they definately slow downwardly the uploads so I clean 'em out every few months.

I've had this happen a few times, simply when I consistently procedure my rides, I don't accept a problem.
1. Power on the unit & showtime the ride.
2. At the end of the ride, press the Start/Terminate button to terminate recording
3. Printing and concord the 'Reset' Push button. This should complete the writing of the ride to memory. (I think lack of this step is what may accept been causing my problems in the past)
4. Power off the unit
5. Upload the ride to all of your sites / programs (I upload to Strava, Garmin Connect, & Garmin Training Eye)
6. Delete old activities (I delete anything over a month old)
Since I started doing this, I haven't had whatever upload problems, truncated data, corrupt data, etc.

Yous're right. This is because Garmin Connect has to look through all the files on the Edge 500 to find ones that haven't been uploaded. It has to look at the date on each file then check your data on GC to run into if information technology has been uploaded. The more files you accept, the longer it takes. If you want to keep the erstwhile ride data, connect the Border to your computer. When your computer recognizes the device, open it in Windows Explorer. Open up the Garmin device in Explorer, so go to Garmin\Activities\. and re-create the .FIT files to your difficult drive. Each FIT file contains the data for a ride.

ChrisM is correct--doing the stop and reset, visually watching it count downwardly is key.

I had this trouble today. I went on a 3.5 60 minutes ride and pressed terminate, so turned off the computer to save the bombardment until I arrived dwelling house. The ride was not constitute on the Garmin Edge 500 when I tried to upload information technology. I searched the Garmin Edge forums and found these instructions, which also are in the manual. https://forums.garmin.com/showthread...ost-or-deleted I guess my data is gone forever, but I will know for next time.
"until Garmin wakes up and addresses this issue, post-obit these steps should "salvage" your activity:
Information technology seems that later the activity is saved, it will upload. Apparently this didactics manual describes this process, only I forgot what I had read until now I was reminded when reading the Garmin forum.

Equally others take said, I had the same effect and I just deleted all activities on the device and all was good later that. I make sure to delete everything every few months or then.

I have a 705, and had like issues a couple of times.
The unit has a limited memory. Your nigh recent ride is not lost simply doesn't show as a saved ride. If you lot delete old files (rides), the most recent one will show upwards. Yous accept the option to delete all old files, or to keep only the near recent iii months, and delete files older than that.

Try going into the device via My Figurer and manually deleting the old rides stored in the device. Back when my rides stopped showing upwards on connect.garmin.com, I did this and things were dorsum to normal. It should exist fine deleting the old items because they should be uploaded, but in any instance, I recommend copying the files over to an external folder before deleting them (or I'm guessing cutting and pasting the items works fine too).

I delete rides from my Garmin after I upload them to Strava or GC. I don't go through the slightly involved process outlined past ChrisM, I just end the Garmin at the end of the ride and and so plug it into my reckoner using the USB cablevision and upload it. Takes most 5 mins.

I know some people have this problem, but I take never had to reset afterward a ride. I merely switch off and upload when I'm home. My married woman as well.
