Very skillful. Fist time making I thought the prep directions were more than than needed to do. So the second time I made it, I dissolved the jello in the hot water, added the cream cheese and beat with mixer. Added the pineapple with juice, and 1/2 cup pecan pieces. Then I folded in the whipped whipping foam. This way it was more uncomplicated to prepare and came out great!

Took this to a Christmas get together on my married man's side & information technology was a complete hit! Mother in law even asked for recipe also as 2 others. We served it with the meal, and some chose it for dessert as well, (over pumpkin pie). My grandma makes a variation of this with marshmallows, just I prefer this recipe. I recommend it setting overnight for the flavors to blend.

This is a wonderful salad. I made it for the family Christmas cafe and added a layer of cherry-red jello to the height for a festive look. It will be a new family tradition.

I've been searching all my cookbooks for this recipe - my grandmother always fabricated this for holiday meals, and I'm so happy to have found information technology! I constitute that the gelatin sets up as well firmly if left for an hr - i/ii hour is adequate. Besides, I used only a footling more half of the whipping cream and it turned out fine. Molds beautifully!

This has been a tradition at our vacation for years. Nosotros leave out the pecans, don't rut the pineapple (our recipe didn't call for that) and sometimes don't whip the foam when brusque on fourth dimension. Still turns out great! Oh and an immersion hand blender works beautifully when the jello sets up a petty faster than you expected. My married man doesn't similar pineapple, and so I made him a cherry-red version. Subbed two 4 oz. boxes of sugar-free blackness cherry jello, upped the boiling water to ane-1/two c. and added chopped fresh bing cherries. Yum! Could even add chopped almonds to compliment the cherries. Next? Strawberry-assistant walnut? The possibilities are up to yous!

When I first made this recipe, I taste-tested it before wanting to serve it with Thanksgiving dinner. When I came to my senses, I realized that I had taste-tested 1/3 of the bowl! Wonderful stuff.

Maraschino cherries are a must... they add a beautiful color that's especially dainty at Christmas.

I came across this recipe a couple years back while looking for something similar information technology has been a huge hit with Thanksgiving and Christmas..When I ask my Mother and sister what they want me to bring for dessert its always Lime Gelatin Salad..WONDERFUL
xi/19/2002
It was really practiced, simply like the kind at Luby's.
02/22/2012
Delicious!! I brand this every year during the holidays... friends & family ever say "oh noooo, not that green thing again," but information technology's always the first dish to be finished! I add walnuts instead of pecans. Be sure to boil the crushed pineapple! One year I tried to throw in the pineapple without heating it on the saucepan equally directed, and the gelatin never solidified. This is a great side dish and a big hit at every political party gathering
04/24/2000
Very delicious! Although, I would put a small amount bated without nuts for kids. Lots of kids detest nuts. Oh, and if you lot double this recipe be prepared for a lot!! Chris
11/21/2004
I just took this to a potluck today. My 10-twelvemonth old daughter made it and we weren't able to bring any of it abode! She elected to not include the nuts. I wouldn't have minded the basics, but who am I to disagree with a cook-in-the-making?! Just like the other reviewer, we establish that information technology needed just one-half 60 minutes to set up. We previously tried an hour and it was besides hard and so the kids got some jello jigglers instead from that batch. We had trouble dissolving the gelatin, but information technology really didn't matter much once it was blended with the cream cheese. The best office of this recipe is the combination with REAL whipped cream instead of the typical Absurd Whip. Information technology volition definitely be added to our favorite jello salad recipes. Thanks for posting! Side by side fourth dimension I will attempt using orange gelatin because I likewise love the orange/pineapple combination, too.
08/06/2011
I dearest this recipe, though I add small curd cottage cheese and eliminate the basics (kids tend non to like them).
eleven/24/2002
This was good, merely non equally flavorful as it sounds. I could hardly gustation the cream cheese...but you tin't hardly go wrong with cranberry, cream cheese, pineapple, and basics all in one dish.
12/22/2008
Made this for Thanksgiving and everyone loved it. Making it again for Christmas. Information technology'due south so light and fluffy with a great texture. If you want to give a little kicking add 1/ii teaspoon of Horseradish. Sounds crazy but it gives information technology a little zip. I have fabricated it with and without and they are both neat! Thank yous for the recipe.
02/10/2005
Fabricated several salads for potluck, took this one--knew it would become over well (brand night earlier for flavors to blend and to set). What tin can you say bad near a jello salad that looks as pretty every bit this ane! The refreshing lime green color just makes your mouth water. This is an old tried merely truthful recipe thats been around for years and the reason is --- it'southward goooood! I'll be making this for years to come up, information technology'south easy and tin can be served with the repast or as a dessert.
eleven/03/2011
I have loved this recipe since I was iii yrs old (so 42 yrs.) As an adult I call information technology "Big Spoon Salad" because I'll keep returning to the fridge with a big spoon (tablespoon ) and go a spoonful at a time.
xi/28/2008
This is fantastic! I omitted the pecans and fabricated it just like the recipe says. It was great and anybody enjoyed it.
01/10/2005
I was not impressed with this salad. Deplorable. I gauge I was expecting something more. I added one bundle of instant vanilla pudding and that seemed to improve the season.
12/17/2000
Thank you for this recipe. My Aunt used to make this for every family gathering when I was young. Until now no one in the family could remember how to make information technology. It it now a staple at all family unit gatherings.
11/21/2004
Due south.O.S. I am hosting my first Thanksgiving dinner and am a little stummped!! I know that this is NOT an open forum, simply would honey anyone to respond as far as categorizing this recipe as a side dish or dessert! It sounds wonderful, but not certain when to serve it!! Cheers! MRSKKS
11/25/2010
Information technology looks kinda gross but it's D East Fifty I C I O U S
06/xviii/2010
i did not add together the pecans considering i didnt have them but this dessert is light, refreshing and addicting. my friends couldnt stop eating it.
02/04/2015
Equally written, it was a lilliputian problematic... 1 hr in my refrigerator and the thick jello had already set up. Adjacent fourth dimension I will practise 1 c. of cold liquid (juice/water) in addition to the ane c. boiling water, and just arctic for 45 minutes. Added marshmallows, as is common in this kind of salad.
09/23/2008
Simple and delicious. I've made this recipe several times and gotten compliments each time. I sometimes add a bit of sweetened coconut to mine. Also, I relieve time by spooky it a few mins in the freezer before moving it to the fridge. But be conscientious not to let information technology freeze.
11/30/2004
It was good, but non as sweet equally I am accustomed to this recipe being.
01/20/2007
OK, so information technology's fattening! Only information technology sure is skillful! I'll be making it once again adjacent year!
11/23/2007
This was great! I doubled the recipe; fifteen people however managed to eat the whole thing!!!! The only complaint that I got was that there were too many pecans. Side by side time, I volition cutting in half.
04/08/2007
I have now made this recipe two times. When the recipe calls 2 cups heavy whippping cream, I dislocated near if it meant 2 cups whipping prior to being whipped upwards or afterwards existence whipped. The first fourth dimension I made it with two half pint cartons of whipping cream. The second fourth dimension I made information technology with simply one carton. I idea it served more than people with the 2 cartons of whipping cream, merely thought information technology tasted sweeter when I just added one carton. I as well chose to omit nuts due to offending many people. When I made it for the showtime time, I had an immediate request for the side by side gathering to make this exact jello, and so information technology is tasty and pop.

I added 1 cup of fresh shredded coconut. Whipped Philadelphia cream cheese instead of the cake. Strauss whole whipping cream from Whole Foods. Put it in a mold. We have several Diabetics so substituted Splenda - i/2 the amount specified. Let is set overnight. Was a HUGE hitting. People went back for thirds! Glad I read that fresh Pineapple would forbid it from setting. The crushed Dole canned was fine. Thanks for the recipe. Passed it on!

I remember making a very similar lime jello "salad" in the '70's & '80's. Jello molds were very big back then. No decent party or commemoration was without them! Lol! I got the recipe from a friend after eating it at her house. I call up She used Absurd Whip just I converted it to real whipped cream. She always made hers with a mashed banana folded in as well. It was pretty uncomplicated compared to a lot of the jello molds dorsum then. A couple packages lime jello dissolved equally directed on packet (but with less liquid), a can of drained crushed pineapple, foam cheese, mashed banana, whipped cream and chopped pecans. I call up letting the cream cheese come to room temperature and folding it into the whipped foam and then folding that, the banana, pineapple and basics into the lime Jell-O.. Never cooked or reduced anything only mixed it all together in a big bowl, then dumped into a pretty jello mold. Simple and good. Not something we brand whatever more. Guess we've gotten too "Foodie". Sometimes I miss the simplicity of the old days.
12/17/2007
For a really pretty addition add some diced pimentoes.
03/04/2007
Very, very expert!!
04/05/2013
I lightened this recipe up by subbing 2 pkgs SF lime jello, FF cool whip, and reduced fat cream cheese (and only used half-dozen oz.) I didn't understand why you needed to boil the pineapple in it's juice, then I omitted that pace. I used walnuts instead of pecans, considering that's what I had on paw. I've made similar salads like this in the past, they are delicious, but more than of a dessert than a salad.
12/23/2014
I accept been making this salad for over 55 years -- but we have ever included pocket-size chopped pieces of celery -- try it with celery - just perfect to us. At Christmas always decorate with maraschino cherries -- now going to try equally suggested red jello on meridian -- t1hank you for recipe -- lost my original written recipe. Oh, I forgot to mention -- have never heated pineapple - only dump whole can crushed pineapple into partially set jello with celery and chopped walnuts. Let prepare in refrigerator 15 to xxx minutes then fold in whipped cream. Accept as well used 1 pocket-sized lemon jello with 1 modest lime jello and sometimes small curd cottage cheese -- especially good in summer with the cottage cheese. macshirley
11/15/2015
I made this for last years thanksgiving and everyone loved it so much that information technology was gone past the terminate of the solar day.
12/24/2015
I used 2 boxes of Lime jello. Also used softened vanilla ice foam instead of whipped foam. I didnt oestrus pineapple nor did I bleed it. As well didnt add nuts. I practise put it in a crystal bowl, garnish with whipped foam rosettes, an cherries. My grandmother made this for years this way and considering my mom didnt like pineapple, grandma would make it with fruit cocktail for her.
12/24/2012
This is the fifth or sixth year I have been making this recipe and we honey it. Information technology is i of the things that my family asks for every single Christmas.
03/08/2017
We really enjoyed this salad. I'm currently on a quest to discover those old fashioned American holiday dishes esp from the 50s and 60s 'When Cool Whip was a food group. " This was pretty easy to make, I left out the nuts. I' ll brand it again.
01/03/2019
My mom made this besides except she also put in a small jar of chopped green olives with pimentos. We chosen information technology our Easter salad.
12/17/2015
Excellent recipe! I have been searching for this for years, we e'er had information technology at Christmas and this is it!! I omit the pineapple only use the juice and I prefer walnuts. very easy and very delicious. Thank you so much for sharing :-)
05/26/2019
This came together exactly as the recipe said it would! I was so pleased, as I had never had much luck adding fruit to Jello in the past. It'south yummy with a dollop of whipped cream or mayo. Or just by itself. Very light and refreshing. Will make over again.

This is a perfect recipe for Homestuckers looking for a good Sopor Slime recipe! And this is someone who literally spent months looking for a good sopor recipe that gave the opaque-ness and color of sopor in the comic and still tasted good. When I first tried it I didn't have whatsoever lime (only lemon) jello and no whipping cream. Even then, it turned out great with a little bit of improvised coffee creamer and milk! My second attempt was with Light-green Apple Jolly Rancher jello. The flavor of the pineapple juice (I didn't add the pecans or the solid pineapples to keep the aesthetic, I also added a bit of dark-green nutrient coloring) combined with the green apple jello is very unique and a perfect mix! Next fourth dimension I plan on making it in a pre-crusted pie tin for Sopor Pie and peradventure also use some sort of mold to make them into little snackables.

I was looking for recipes that were popular in the lxx'south for my disco/70'southward party, and remembered this lime jello salad! Mmmm! It was a succulent trip in the time motorcar, and everyone at my political party raved about it. It is one of the dishes I recall ever having at big dinners when I was growing up, and it didn't disappoint. Several friends say they still accept it every Thanksgiving. I may need to revive that tradition!
12/14/2019
Next time I won't exit it in the refrigerator for a full hour considering it begins to set. I retrieve 30 minutes volition be long enough. Everything else was elementary
07/08/2022
I've been looking for this for years! My mom used to make it when I was a child Love it
12/26/2019
I made this for my Christmas dinner December 2019. My grandma maymie makes it for all holidays and dinners. I saw this recipe and it looked merely like hers. the taste was just similar she made it for me. It was simple and my family loved cheers so much. stephanie Bryant Clarksville, Mo

My family loved this recipe
11/26/2017
My Grandma used to brand this during the holidays. I found three dissimilar mitt written recipes of my grandma's and each recipe was a little different. She listed all the ingredients, but not the instructions. I made this recipe the dark earlier Thanksgiving and I think it was the closest to my grandma's. It turned out bully!
02/18/2014
Smashing recipe. I made a few changes for people watching their carbs. I used sugar free Jello, used half the amount of pineapple and juice (fabricated up the liquid in water -- it was notwithstanding plenty sweetness. Used walnuts because that'south the kind of nuts I had. We loved it, and it was very pretty.
11/25/2017
Very yummy and easy to brand.
12/03/2017
This is a cracking recipe and I will make it once again.
12/27/2021
This was a definite keeper! I fabricated a double recipe and in identify of lemon-lime soda, measured out some of the sparkling grape juice yous discover in the stores around the holidays (considering information technology is what I had!). I besides used kokosnoot flakes instead of basics because of allergies. Based on advice from other reviewers, I added the cream cheese while the estrus was yet on and didn't take it off until it was completely melted and dissolved; the marshmallows and cream cheese were added while cooking, the whipped cream, pineapple, gelatin mix, and coconut added afterwards the rut was off. Because I made such a large amount, I chilled it for two days. It came out extremely tasty and very well-set, non watery at all. Definitely going in my notebook of keepers!
eleven/27/2019
Used frozen thawed whipped topping instead of whipping heavy cream 16oz may exist also much of whipped topping- And so far I have but sampled before letting it fix for a few hours so cannot actually tell. As well used primal lime pecans as festive topping on top. These were green and premade at store. I used saccharide gratis lime because I am diabetic and wanted to swallow some although still carbohydrate from pineapple and fundamental lime pecans.
12/02/2019
Came out perfect! Will use information technology forever!
11/26/2015
I was looking for something similar to my grandma's orange jello salad and this was a swell substitute. I think I like the lime fifty-fifty improve! I doubled the recipe simply kept the foam the same and it turned out great. I beloved pineapple, simply a whole tin is a bit overwhelming and too chunky. I'll cut the pineapple in one-half side by side time.
11/22/2016
I grew up having this neat tasting jello salad at our holiday meals. As an adult I continued the tradition for my own holiday dinners. My kids look frontward to information technology. I have a "thing" going with one of my sons where when I make it I put a serving in a basin for him to accept earlier in the day. He looks forward to that "special treatment".
04/12/2020
Only like my grandma made. Thank you so much
eleven/thirty/2019
Turned out perfect!, but like the one from Luby's. Fabricated one for thanksgiving and now gonna make some other ane for myself
12/24/2019
yep i would brand it again! i added 1cup of marshmellos marachino cherries coconut
09/13/2014
I dearest this jello salad!!
11/25/2020
This is very good! I only had to apply 1 box of lemon jello and 1box of lime jello because that was all I had in my house and I didn't take time to run to the store. I did leave out the pecans (non because I wanted to) because I was taking this to a friends house and they don't care for whatever kind of nuts in their nutrient. Other than that I made information technology exactly equally written. Very delicious recipe, thanks for sharing
06/29/2017
This was delicious either as a salad or dessert!
06/02/2019
Yummy! I didn't add together the nuts, cause I just hate nuts in things.. lol
12/22/2018
it was a hit
07/19/2014
Made this for a family unit cookout lats night and everyone LOVED it. I read the negative reviews for this, and disagree. I did everything exactly equally the recipe called for, though I'm not sure what non heating the pineapples would exercise to it. We all liked it a lot :)
07/08/2018
No changes. loved it just as it is
04/01/2016
I had lost the recipe for my grand mom's dark-green stuff (a staple of every holiday during my babyhood). This has too much cream and over powers all the other flavors. 1 loving cup of cream is plenty. Add a second loving cup of hot water to make up for using less cream. I think pecans would exist good.
11/23/2020
Delicious! Only like my grandma used to make it :) I add actress nuts and celery and information technology'due south pure perfection
